Automated Leak Detection

Wireless Moisture Intrusion Detection Systems

  • Vehicle assembly is harder than it looks
Even with 100% vehicle rain testing, water leaks can be hard to detect. Up to 3% of vehicles ship from the factory with leaks. This leads to mold growth and costly warranty repairs.
  • The right technology
Traditional detection methods are labor intensive: they require manual probing or placing paper cording around the interior of the vehicle. The surprisingly thin AZN2110 wireless sensor is placed directly on the metal chassis under the trim components, where water collects. Leak data is collected wirelessly. With analysis, this data points to the root cause of the leaks.
  • Finds small leaks
Major leaks are easy to find because they’re visible. Medium and micro leaks are hard to detect using traditional methods. The key is the thin AZN2110, employing Smart Passive Sensing™ technology that is very sensitive to moisture. It detects nearly all mold-causing medium leaks, and about 60% of micro leaks.
  • Improves quality
An entire class of quality issues are left unaddressed without real-time data analysis. Detecting these hard-to-find leaks on the assembly line gives automakers a chance to identify the root cause of leaks. Then, they can make improvements to their assembly line. Avoid costly repairs in the field by solving issues before the car leaves the factory.
Wireless Handheld Moisture Intrusion Detection System

Find issues sooner to keep the line running smoothly –
with a wireless system that electronically identifies leaks with less cost and labor than the usual manual methods involving inspections gloves and probes. The key is the thin AZN2110 Moisture Sensor that employs Smart Passive Sensing ™ technology that fits easily between the chassis body and the interior trim. Data from the system positively identifies any leaks by location and builds a collection of data to help automakers find the root causes large and small that trigger these leaks in the first place.

AZN5106-B Wireless Moisture Intrusion Detection System

The handheld system records sensor values before and after the high-pressure spray wash. The system alerts operators to wet vehicles when water is detected by one or more sensors. The sensors are encoded with a location ID that identifies the specific leak location in the vehicle. The system stores the sensor values for later download and analysis.
